... what - specifically - are you lacking in the current version? Do other software packages do something that SJ cannot? Are there features missing that you would like to see implemented or are you just wanting the version # to increase?
Hi,
First of all, i just installed itunes on my computer...
Let me explain ! I really wanted to buy this album : http://itunes.apple.com/..-fathers-house/id352483334
Great tunes and good action...And i think these people need it.
Once i converted the files to MP3, i straight delete Itunes from my computer and thought about one more time how shitty it is compared to Silverjuke.
There's actually nothing to compare...
To be honest i don't really know what i would like to improve.
Lastfm pluggins are awesome and just make the soft so much better. Few skins made it too. Users improved the soft so much and i'm aware of it.
But i don't believe that thinking SJ is perfect is the direction.
There is stuff to improve and that's not my job to tell what.
In my opinion, the visual is not that great (my apologies and respect to the skinners, you've done awesome job...) but There is definately somthing to do with it.
Why is "Spectrum monitor" such CPU hog?
Silverjuke is using only 4 - 5 % CPU power, but with "spectrum monitor" activated almost 95% is used.
Even when i deactivate all of 3 options (spectrum, osciloskop, starfield) there is almost 60% of CPU power used, just for showing name of the artist-song?!? I am runing Sj on Mac mini, but i think that in Windows is same situation.

... I was just gonna post something about this. I upgraded my proc and was curious to see how much headroom I had left. A P4 2.6ghz uses about 5% during playback and about 35% during spectrum monitor visualization. Hah! I certainly dont care, I just found it amusing.
There are numerous improvements that need to be made to the software. This forum has many threads indicating what features need to be added and what features need to be improved.
If it was not for the work of SilverEagle, this software would be a total flop. It lacks proper network control and/or connectivity. It lacks any semblance of touch screen compatability or ergonomics. It lacks proper audio drivers for bit-perfect playback. It lacks many other things. When the software was released, it was a welcome contender in the distributed audio, home jukebox arena. It has grown rather long in the tooth.
Again, without the numerous contributions by SilverEagle, this software would be nowhere. I am not beating up the author, but at the same time, if this is a business then the software development process needs to be on much more timely schedule. It has become rather obvious that this is a part time hobby and the developer does not devote time to the product or the customers.

While I do appreciate the implied praise in your post, I feel I must stand up for the developers here: current pricing is 29 euro's for "unlimited updates". That is 'unlimited', not to be confused with 'guaranteed' or 'often' or even 'regularly'.
If you want unlimited guaranteed often regular updates the best way probably is to bind yourself to a company which charges for them instead, you just can't have it both ways in the real world...
SilverEagle
PS: In fact when I think of it I got the short stick here: I won the software for free in the competition, but as result of a few hundred hours coding before and after the contest I think that might be a rather poor return on investment.. ![]()
You know, the bass library included in v2.74 is v2.2.0.2/4. U4seen's page lists the current version v2.4.5. I have other applications that use the bass library. They all use the latest one. If nothing else, this fact alone makes me worry about SJ's seniority.
