Ok, I found it:

1) yes, I completly misunderstood your above text, and shared the database file readonly Oops! (as the germans are saying: "wer lesen kann ist echt im Vorteil".... ) Warning

2) Problem was that I switch on the slave the option "Remove played tracks from queue". I deactivated this and all is running as predicted.

Once again was confirmed the wisdom of hotline professionals: The biggest bug is sitting in front of the keyboard.

Thanks, I'll look into it and make it either supported or I'll have it turned off (or warned about) by the DLL.

Isn't it nice to get user feedback after a release? As a former developer and now more of a tech manager, I know what it's like!

I have a few things I've noticed. Lets call them UDF's, (un-documented features). What is the best way to convey these to you? Would you like a document, private mail or using this forum?

Absolutely! Wink

'A few things' sounds like multiple technical to-and-fro mails, and possibly an alpha-version going your way to test the fixes. In that case forum-PM and then email is the only way to exchange attachments.

Dear Sir SilverEagle,
you´re a pure genius!

Already in May 2006 I suggested a server-client-network-function for Silverjuke (http://www.silverjuke.net/forum/post.php?p=1929&highlight=#1929) and since that day all I´ve ever heard from the SJ-Team was "there will be a kind of network interface some day" or "we have it on our todo-list but can´t say when".
And now finally... YOU MADE IT!!!
I´m really sorry the name "Dr. Silver" isn´t free here anymore...
Maybe change your nick to "Dr. SilverEagle"? Mr. Green
They should really pay you some money for all your inventive work here! (and give you the source-code and leave further developments of SJ to you... would go faster I think Rolling Eyes )
I´m testing your Remote Control since a couple of days now and it runs really perfect!
All I can say is:
Many many many thanks to you!!!!

Well, it already earned me a license from the contest, so for a free public service I can't complain Smile

In which estimate you are probably wrong: continuing developing and supporting the same software year after year takes a lot of stamina, chapeau to SJ Team. My position here is a lot more comfortable, I happily hack along without a care for future incompatibilities, security, wishlists or support...

But I am flattered by the thought Cool

Thanks again,
'Sir' (for a day) SilverEagle

Hello Sivereagle,

great piece of SW!!

I have a suggestion for the "remove played title from play list"...

Ist it possible that the master only controls this and some of the other parameters ?

best Thomas

Hi Thomas,

The plugin only synchronizes the playlist between the master and slave. Settings are not synchronized, meaning you can disable 'edit queue' in kioskmode on the client and leave it enabled on the master (or other way round if that makes more sense for your setup). Same goes for all other limitations Silverjuke allows for kioskmode.

(All this is out of my head, I think the plugin will ignore any user kioskmode limitations and will just sync anyway. If you find the plugin breaks on this post or PM me and I'll look into it deeper)

Cheers,
SilverEagle

I should not reply when I'm tired: you wrote "remove played title...", not "remove title..." Tired

I think what you are suggesting is a good idea, I'll try to look into it this week.

I think I get it... but am not sure i see the utility, or I am missing something! If (2) computers are playing the same playlist, but not perfectly synced, then what is the use?

Let me map out a scenario that makes more sense to me.

1) Server in basement of house connected to spd/if or other digital output ---> Preamp ----> (single or multizone).
2) Touchscreen in Bedroom
3) Touchscreen in Kitchen
4) Touchscreen outside on deck

The goal would be to run silverjuke on each touchscreen and allow them to control the server. I don't want to hook a digitial output, amp and speakers to each touch panel. I just want to remote control the main server from the remote panels. For folks who want speakers and an amplifier in each room, then there is no need to try and sync the playlists, just share the physical music folder between independent installs of Silverjuke.

If I am missing something, please let me know :)
