Re: Classic Box Skin

Hi guys,

now that the Silverjuke team updated to Version 2.73, I want to post finally also my update of the Classic Box Skin.

- added Version for 1024x768
- the behaviour of the buttons View and Visu changed: While clicking on View is showing now the three well known views from Silverjuke, clicking on Visu is showing either the Silverjuke visualisation or the "Now Playing" view. You can toggle between both by clicking again on View
- You have to confirm the playlist choice before it is loaded and your old list is erased
- some corrections
- Configuration is now under "tools" "Configuration". One day I will update also the configuration.pdf file.

Download via the German forum: here.

Have fun

frenchi

I forgot: You need Silverjuke version 2.73 for this skin!!!

This is a great skin! I love it. I am evaluating SilverJuke and am about ready to buy it. One question about your skin though. Playlists are very important to me. Your skin filters by Artist, Year and Genre. But I also see 'Playlist' as a filte subject when I scroll through the modes, but no playlists appear. Is there a particular place to store my playlists created with SilverJuke so that your skin will see them and pick them up? I would love to be able to scroll through my playlists on this Jukebox skin.

Also, (and this is a general playlist question, not partcular to this skin) is there any plans to provide 'import playlists' or 'convert playlist' support for Windows Media Player or RealPlayer formatted playlists? Thanks!

David Johnson

No problem: You only have to tell Silverjuke where your playlists are stored. For this go into the Classic Box Skin configuration (right mouse click, Tools, Configuration):

Enjoy.

I really like the look of this skin, and tried it out on silverjuke ver. 2.74. But it takes long time to load because every time I start silverjuke the first thing happened is that he update the artist and genre database even when I have not changed anything. When I close silverduke and start it 10 minutes later its the same the databases get updated again.

This is very annoying and I like to know if there is a way to stop the update, and only update when I actually makes changes to the music like deleting files or put more files in the directory.

Hi Dieter,

glad to see that you like this skin. Your mentioned problem is known, and I have found where it is coming from, but I have actually no time to get into the code to establish a new version: But there is a work-around:

The reason for the automatic update is that the skin isn't able to create a playlist-list-database; so at startup it is detecting that the database is missing, and is trying to create the database, but if no playlists are found, no database is created, and so on. If you create a (dummy) playlist, and you tell the skin where it can find this playlist (see two post before 'Directory for playlist'), it should be done.

Hope this will solve your problem.

If not, please let me know, I will than try to find the real reason.

Hi Frenchi,

I thank you so much for your quick replay, but I first had time today to try your suggestion and I can tell you it worked perfect. I have used your skin today without problems, and when I play the songs I even like the skin a lot more. This is definitely the skin I will use now. I have bought and used Silverjuke for several years now with the old style jukebox, but this one is really a big improvement, and I am happy to use it from now on.

With my best wishes and thank you for the quick reply...

Dieter

Hi Frenchi,

I am trying to download & configure the Classic Box Skin. It downloads OK, but when I select Tools/Congiguration to change my playlist location as such, I get a message "Line 3005 Error: Cannot Write File". I did change the "Skip Silence ... " tag in Fading first. Is there a specific location that I have to download the Classic_Box executable to inorder for the program to be able to update the settings? The first time I downloaded it, I chose the Silverjuke programs file directory as the download location. Then I tried the C:/Users ... area and that didn't work either. I also cannot run the Update Artist command under Tools. Help! Thanks, David Johnson.
